100 Faces

2004

These portraits were drawn in London over the summer of 2004. I approached people on the street and asked if they would allow me to draw them.
In exchange for their time, I offered each participant a copy of the drawing which was produced as the original was drawn by placing a sheet of
carbon paper in between the sheets of my sketch book. Some of the fainter images here are the carbon copies. The mojarity of the portraits are of
men which is a by-product of my higher confidence in approaching and drawing men and a fear of offending women. It is theorised that a person is
better at drawing their own sex.
