Castle Park hoarding proposal

Over the past 7 years Duncan Mckellar has created a series of 7 installations in front of Norwich Union House in central Bristol. These artworks have included a Pineapple, Cactus, Banana, and two Mermaids. The Artist's latest piece depicts two figures embracing and represents a show of unity with Ukraine.

Each of these large scale sculptural installations have been created using recycled scaffolding tubing and have become cultural landmakrs in the centre of Bristol.

With the upcoming redevelopment of the site Mckellar is proposing a series of images to adorn the hoardings which will be installed on High Street and Bridge Street. These images will be printed onto vinyl. The designs and will incorporate the artworks which have been installed on the site since 2016 alongside inmages of historic buildings of Castle park which were lost during the Blitz. The Colour scheme will be blue and yellow as a continued sign of unity with Ukraine.

The proposed new artworks will bring colour and life to the site, incorporate local history and contemporary culture whilst providing a record of a series of sculptures which have become a part of modern life in Bristol.

Please see example images and photographs of previous installations below.
